Tips on how to combat fogging and frozen car windows
Last year, too, there was an increase in the figures for car sales. When you have a car at your disposal you will have experienced it at one time or another: a frozen or a fogged car window. When your car is on the side of the road or near your house this is not a problem. However, do you want to travel with your car? Then you have to make sure that the car windows are completely clean again so that you can look outside properly; this is crucial when you are on the road. Add to that the fact that it can also be quite annoying to have to clean the windows when you were planning to leave quickly by car. That is why this article contains various tips on how to quickly get rid of frozen and fogged windows.
Miscellaneous antifreeze products for frozen windows.
One of the easiest ways to get your car windows to defrost quickly is to use antifreeze products. Did you know that you can put antifreeze washer fluid into the reservoir and then simply press a button to make sure it thaws your windows? Make sure to top up before the winter so that you can use it during the freezing days. Would you rather not do this yourself? Then you can also (often at a discount!) visit a car specialist in the Netherlands, such as Profile. You can have your winter tyres fitted immediately! By the way, you can also buy separate sprays containing antifreeze fluid: de-icing not only ensures that your windows are defrosted, but also ensures that the car windows do not freeze again.
Windscreen film or antifreeze blanket
Of course, installing a windscreen film or an antifreeze blanket is also a good idea if you want to be sure that you can leave the next morning quickly. Windscreen film does not cost so much and is a good investment. You can use this film in summer to keep out heat: the film ensures that the heat stays out of the car when you place it on the car windows. An antifreeze blanket is often slightly more expensive because it is slightly thicker than windscreen film. At the same time, such a blanket is somewhat better in terms of quality: because the blanket is thicker than the film, there is less chance of it blowing off. In addition, the film is more sensitive to damage (due to the wind, for example) and will crack more quickly. So look carefully at what investment you make when you want the automotive glass to stop freezing.
Turn on the air conditioning when fogging car windows
When dealing with car windscreens that have been fogged, take other steps. It is recommended that you turn on the air conditioning. Do this before entering the road so that once you are on the road you have a clear view through the windows. You will see that the fogging windows will pull away after a while. You can also set the heater to the highest setting, point the blowers at the windscreen or set the fan to circulation. Fogging windows can occur in any season: if you enter the car with wet clothing, the windows may already fog. Therefore, also pay attention to what you wear and what 'wet' items you take with you in the car before you drive.
Check the rubbers of the windows and doors
You can of course prevent fogged windows by checking a number of things at your car. One of the first reasons why windows fog is because moisture can enter the car. Therefore, always check the rubbers of the windows and doors: these rubbers should normally keep out the moisture. When there is a rubber piece, there can be a hole through which moisture can penetrate. Check immediately that all windows are completely closed. You can always choose to put a so-called moisture absorber in the car which ensures that the moisture is ' stopped ' in the appropriate container instead of on the windows. It is also advisable to let your car ventilate when the sun shines: open the windows or the doors (if possible) and let the moisture dry.
Other handy tips
Finally, a few handy tips about freezing and fogging car windows. In winter, make sure that the windscreen wipers on the car are removed from the window with a cork, so that the windscreen wipers do not freeze on the windows. For foggy windows, it is recommended that you clean your vehicle glass regularly on the inside. Also make sure you don't leave damp or wet things in the car: no matter how attractive it is to dry that wet towel on the hat shelf after swimming or playing sports, it provides foggy windows. Do you end up still suffering from fogged windows? Then it is advisable to have your car checked with a car specialist such as Profile, because then it is possible that there is a leak in the heater radiator.
